OVERDOSE DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE & FAMILIES IN VALLEY COUNTY NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
386 Idahoans died as a result of an accidental drug overdose in 2023. 144 of these fatalities happened in our Health District (District 4: Central District Health) Source: Get Healthy Idaho/Drug Overdose Prevention Program
"While overdose deaths from synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl) decreased in 2023 compared to 2022, cocaine and psychostimulants (like methamphetamine) increased." -Source: CDC
According to the CDC, an estimated 64.4% of these deaths were preventable!
The purpose of this event is to join with others all over the world by bringing our community together to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family & friends left behind. It will be an opportunity to hear from our community leaders and stakeholders on the impact that overdose is having in our community and create meaningful connections with our neighbors to facilitate collaboration and solutions for this devastating public health crisis.
This year's theme is "TOGETHER WE CAN", highlighting the power of our community when we all stand together. We hope you can join us for this important event and learn more about what you can do to prevent drug overdoses in our community.
